Round the Island Race
The annual race round the Isle of Wight, is the biggest such event in the world. With over 1800 yachts and around 16,000 sailors, it attracts all levels of participants, from professional racing boats to family cruisers. This opportunity to join a team and experience the excitement first hand is not to be missed. It is open to anyone, whatever your experience. With a day of practice before the big event, we will help you to get the most out of this unique experience.
Following a successful campaign in 2011, we are now offering the opportunity to join our crew for the 2012 event. Join us onboard Quantum Leap for a inclusive 3 day event package: 29th June - 1st July:
| Friday | 08:30 Meet your skipper onboard at Haslar Marina, Gosport. After a safety briefing and introduction to the boat, head out for a day's racing practice. Learn to handle a spinnaker and work together as a team to sail effectively. At the end of the day moor in Cowes ready for the main event the following morning. |
| Saturday | Rise early to be on the start line in time for the race (the start is staggered, times are announced a few days before the event). After completing the 50 nautical mile course, join the crowds in Cowes to find out how we have done and share in the celebrations. |
| Sunday | After a leisurely start, leave Cowes and enjoy some gentle sailing around the Solent, returning to Haslar marina late afternoon, ready to depart for home around 17:00. |
The price of £435 per person includes the yacht, fully qualified skipper/instructor, safety equipment, all food and drink onboard, race entrance fees, mooring fees, fuel, gas.
