P&O's Grand Event

The P&O Grand Event is taking take place on 3rd July, 2012 in Southampton. This is part of a year of celebrations scheduled to mark the 175th anniversary of the Peninsular Steam Navigation Company being awarded the lucrative Admiralty contract to carry mail to the Iberian Peninsula and beyond. Not long afterwards the concept of cruising was born and since 1837, cruising has evolved into a popular holiday choice. Now P&O carry more British cruising passengers than any other line.

To mark this anniversary, all 7 of the P&O passenger liners will come together for the first time and will form a procession as they leave Southampton. This will be a spectacular sight, particularly when viewed from close at hand on the water.

Quantum Sailing is offering a special experience day, where individual places can be booked to join others onboard Quantum Leap to enjoy the spectacle. This will include a days sailing, culminating in an evening in Southamptom water, watching the procession and departure of the P&O fleet. The price is £150 per person, inclusive of all food onboard.
