Fastnet Race 2013
The biannual Fastnet Race will next be run in 2013. With 300 boats competing over the 608 mile course, this is one of the toughest events on the sailing calendar. From the start line at Cowes the fleet heads west, rounding the famous Fastnet Rock off the south west coast of Ireland, before heading for the Bishop Rock near the Isles of Scilly and then making for the finish line at Plymouth.
Participating in this prestigious event is an experience of a lifetime and Quantum Sailing is offering the opportunity to join the crew on Quantum Leap for the 2013 race. Entering such a challenging event is not a one-off activity and the stringent regulation of offshore racing requires both yacht and crew to prove their readiness. We are therefore offering a comprehensive package that includes the following training and practice races:
- 1 x Training weekend
- 4 x RORC Offshore races:
- Cervantes Trophy (Cowes - Le Havre)
- De Guingand Bowl (Cowes, round marks and back)
- Morgan Cup (Cowes - Cherbourg via marks)
- Cowes - Dinard - St Malo
- The Rolex Fastnet Race
- Celebration/Recovery time in Plymouth
- Return leg to Gosport
- All onboard safety equipment
- Wet weather gear (if required)
- Quantum Sailing - Fastnet race team tee shirts
- All food onboard, moorings, fuel, gas
The training weekend will take place in March 2013, with the preliminary races spread between May and July. The Fastnet Race itself will start on Sunday 11th August, 2013.
Availability is limited. We will sail with skipper plus up to six crew to maximise everyones participation. The price for this will be £2,750 per person.
Please note - we have not included ISAF personal Sea Survival course in the above cost, as some may have done this already. We do require all participants to have completed this and we can arrange a suitable course if required.
