Cowes Week 2012
Part of British sporting tradition, the Cowes Week regatta dates back to 1826. It started with just 7 yachts racing for the Gold Cup. Today it attracts over 1,000 boats, with around 8,500 competitors ranging from Olympic and world class yachtsmen to weekend sailors. Over the 8 days of the regatta, boats will compete in 40 different classes, racing over 30 different short courses in and around the Solent. In 2012, Cowes week will take place from 11th to 18th August and is again expected to attract over 100,000 spectators.
Most races are best viewed from afloat, where you can follow the fleets and really feel immersed in the action. Quantum Sailing offers the opportunity to view the racing first hand, with one or two day packages, adapted to your specific requirements. A typical day would be along the following lines:
- Breakfast on the boat
- Morning sailing in the Solent
- Excellent lunch at anchor
- Race watching in the afternoon
- Drinks in the marina at the end of the day
Prices include all food and drink onboard and the two day event would include overnight accommodation onboard and could take in the Friday night fireworks spectacular.
This is ideal for a special family outing or a corporate event to entertain customers or reward key staff.
